Hitting the Reset Button

We’re sure you’ve had those times (and maybe it’s right now at the end of this challenge) when you feel burned out and restless, like you need to get more motivated and energized in life. You might be tempted to change your entire look because you’re a) stressed out, b) burned out, and/or c) restless.

We all find ourselves needing to hit the reset button from time to time.

The thing is that sometimes we think we need a big change to make life more exciting, but really we just need to make a few small tweaks.

Rather than overhauling your entire life because you feel like it’s the only way to get unstuck, let’s talk about finding small, simple ways you can get unstuck and refreshed in your life. We want to share a simple method to help you feel more rejuvenated when life feels overwhelming or unexciting.

Have you been feeling a little restless? Bored even? Does something feel like it’s missing from your life?

We all have a busy schedules to keep us occupied, but there are certain parts of the day/week/month/even year when we find ourselves unmotivated with our current situations.

When that happens, we start scrolling through Instagram, watching endless YouTube videos, online shopping, cleaning the apartment . . . basically anything except what’s on our to-do lists. Eventually this creates more boredom because we end up comparing our lives to other people’s and wishing our lives didn’t feel boring. We want to recognize that as a vicious circle that doesn’t benefit you in any way.

Maybe you’re dealing with some negative thoughts at the end of this challenge. Doubting yourself and where your life is going. Or maybe you feel the opposite. Maybe you’re feeling motivated and positive and driven to keep going! However you’re feeling, we hope felt loved, supported, and encouraged throughout this challenge. Most importantly, we hope you feel capable, confident, and courageous.

But just in case you’re feeling a little down and out, don’t you worry, we got you.

When you’re feeling restless or unmotivated, it’s important to really listen to what’s going on internally. What is causing these feelings? Is it overworking, not doing work that’s fulfilling, or feeling disconnected with what you want to do and what others want you to do?

Some things that have helped us to get back on track are:

Sticking to a morning and evening routine

Going to bed earlier

Eating better and exercising more regularly

Making time for self care & recharging your batteries.

Even though these are small things, we know that sometimes even when the smallest things are missing from our daily lives, they create a bigger disconnect than we thought they could. Sometimes what we WANT is not always what we NEED, so paying attention to the little details can really help you feel more aligned.

In order to hit the reset button, you have to figure out where you’re at right now and what changes you can make. A simple way to do this is to rank the different areas of your life on a scale of 1-10 based on how satisfied you feel with them. We want you to rank the following areas of your life (use the accompanying Rank Your Overall Wellness worksheet that goes with it):

Physical Health

Mental Health

Financial Status

Social Life

Spiritual/Personal Growth

At the end of the exercise, your rankings might look a little unbalanced. Some areas you feel more satisfied than others. That’s normal and to be expected, but also a reason to rethink your focus and where you’re putting your energy right now!

Once you’re done, you can see which areas need the most attention. From here, try to focus on a few small changes you can make over the next couple of months based on the areas that you feel need the most work.

Choosing to work on a few life areas at once may not sound as exciting as an entire life overhaul, but this method is more sustainable than trying to do everything right away.

And you know we’re all about what is sustainable!
